One of the problems we had was with the waterers. We started off with 1 and 2 gallon vacuum waterers. But they both would not keep the trough filled. We also had problems with the chicks digging under them and capsizing them. They must be raised as the chicks grow, to keep the chicks out of them and to keep the water cleaner in the trough.
We finally bought an orange gravity fed bell waterer and no longer had the problems.
