Cold frame in the big garden April 2003

coldframeinthebiggardenapril2003.jpg

The cold frame was to have all glass lights, but they've been broken, until there's just one left. The corrugated plastic works well, is lighter weight and easier to clean and store.

The hay bales keep the warmth in, and there's a black plastic floor to absorb heat. The cold frame was to be 2 more lights wide, but it never got finished. I use hay bales to block the unfinished end, on the left.

In front of it, I think we'd cleared this area of mulch so we could dig a new asparagus bed. The black plastic is to keep the weeds from growing before we get it done.

Notice Lee's 8' x 8' sandbox in the upper left corner.
