The winter coop - Most prefer top of laying box October 2008
The day had come and they were moved from their pen (where they'd been laying eggs under the coop in dirt holes) and brought into the coop.
These chickens had always stood on grass, since they were 5 weeks old. They did not like the looks of the shavings. The preferred spot was on the nesting box, followed by the roosts. Anywhere but in the shavings.
Here they are checking out the wall, looking for places for escape.
