Due to not having cows in the barn warming it up, the snow is not coming off the roof. This means it's a danger to the hens, as it comes down in the area they enter the coop. So they've been stuck inside for a day or so after each snow fall.
David had spread leaves as far into the pen as he could, so they would stay away from that area.
