The winter coop - half of the coop and the window October 2008
The first thing was to insulate the walls and ceiling (leftover 1" and 2" styrofoam board) and then put up a second wall. Two walls (south and east) had been finished and we decided to not tear them apart to insulate.
Once the walls were done, we laid the linoleum remnant we'd found, running it up the walls and securing it.
Then we put chicken wire over the window, to keep critters out and chickens off the ledge. Then a scrap of Plexiglas was turned into a storm window.
You can see the electric service by the window. David ran a lead and put in a GFI outlet for heat lamps and submersion heaters.
Then he used the frame from the feedbox to build 6 laying boxes. Once those were in place we started an interior wall, to contain chickens when the 4' wide door was opened.
